Welcome

thanks for visiting! As this is my first EVER blog, I think some info on my background is important. My name is Nicole, I am a mother of 2, wife of 9 years and interior designer. My life as a designer has been interesting thus far. I have worked for a large builder (who shall remain nameless ;-) designing model homes as well as an interior designer for Drexel Heritage in Colorado Springs. I have always worked for someone else and am ready to try this thing out on my own. As I find myself currently unemployed (urg) I dont see a better time than now to start the ball rolling on my passion for design. You can expect me to provide tips, tricks, answer questions and share with you the many wonderful design finds I come across. So please please if there is something you are interested in knowing, let me know. and here we go......

Not Your Granny's Wallpaper

Ah, the dreaded wallpaper.  I think everyone and his mother has a bone to pick with the lovely (or not so lovely) papers that coat the walls of homes around the country.  Hold on there friends, wallpapers are not all bad.  I know the lovely scalloped border is sadly never going to up the design quotient in any space; but take a look at these great papers by some fab companies:

Graham and Brown

Sparkle and Birdcage by Graham and Brown are soft and pretty, with modern designs that add impact to small spaces.  I wouldn't go papering an entire great room; but a poweder room, closet, a small bedroom etc. could look dynamic with the right paper design.

I have a soft spot in my heart for the city of New Orleans.  Having lived there for several years I love this citys style.  Flavor Paper is a company based out of New Orleans that makes some very non traditional papers.  Check out Stanley, Knot Wood and Celery, these are some of my favorites.  Interesting applications for papers such as these, that may overwhelm in large quantities are:  the backs of shelving units, lamp shades, accent furniture pieces, or use as art by wrapping around canvas or sticking to the cardboard backing found in in-expensive frames and make a framed wall collage.

Still scared to paper?  Wallter can help.  wallter creates wall decor that you customize.  From circles to slats to teardrops, butterflys, starbursts, and rectangles, you paint them the color of your choice, peal and stick to the wall in the design you like best.  Should you and wallter ever decide to part ways, you can break up easily by simply removing from your wall.
